This is a space for you to share, or publish, your creative efforts. If you'd like to post a poem, a story, or a piece of artwork, feel free to do so. If you'd like feedback from your peers, let them know in your post (I will not be posting feedback to this page). I just have a couple of caveats for you to keep in mind before you click submit:
1. No trolls. If you troll, you will be banned from the site. Be respectful of each other's bravery in putting their words and ideas out there. 2. Know your audience, which is your professor and peers from your academic community. Keep it relatively PG, meaning if you wouldn't show your work to your grandma, it probably isn't a good idea to post it here. If you'd like to see what literary magazines are publishing these days, click on the links in the Blog Roll on the right. Maybe you'll find inspiration for your next great work! To post a comment, you need to register for a free Disqus account first at https://disqus.com/ to be all set to go!

The realm of story entices us to enter the writer’s imagination and make ourselves at home there. We tell children stories to entertain or as cautionary tales. Later, we read to escape, to learn, or to chase away boredom. Part of discovering who you are as a writer is developing a taste for what you like to read. Do you enjoy stories about romance or adventure? Imaginary creatures or supernatural powers? Tales from ordinary life or those from an alternate universe? Do you like pared down prose or long detailed description? Consider what keeps you turning the page until you get to the end. Stories are all around us; yet paradoxically, the wealth of material makes it hard to know what to write. Good thing, then, that the internet is brimming with stories from the underside, the dark side, and outside. Take some time clicking on the links in the Blog Roll to the right of this post and in the comment box below, post a link to a story that you especially liked--or didn’t like--and explain why. Give us a mini-review. In the meantime, we’ll build a class library of works we can refer to for inspiration. |
