9. Grading
Every syllabus should have section that explains how your final grade for the course will be determined. Some professors use a point system; others use a grading contract; and still others show how much each assignment is weighted toward your final grade. Some may use a combination of one or more of these systems.
It's important to keep referring back to this section over the course of the semester. One missed assignment that counts for a significant portion of your grade can make the difference between passing or not passing as can continuously losing points for late work.
