3. Course format.
Some syllabi might call this section "Assignments" or "What to Expect from the Class" or "Course Work" or some other label that will let you know that this section contains information about how the course is set up.
After Spring 2020 when CUNY campuses shut down due to COVID-19, this section on my syllabus explained that the course was fully online and asynchronous, meaning that students did not have to "meet" at a certain day and time. In a more "normal" semester, the course may be a "hybrid," meaning that it meets one day face-to-face in a physical classroom and the other class "day" takes place in the course's Learning Management System (LMS). At Queensborough Community College (QCC), the LMS is Blackboard.
Sometimes this part of the syllabus is broken down into "Assignments" or "Activities." It may include page requirements or a description of how classroom participation will take place. The descriptions in this section should correspond with the requirements you see in the course description portion of the syllabus.
